Playa del Carmen Condo
Our Playa del Carmen condo is a cut above the rest. Luxurious, from the grounds to the condo itself and its proximity to the beach and to town. Welcome to our slice or paradise!
Our Playa del Carmen condo is located in Mar, a small gated community within the larger gated communtiy of Playacar. Affectionately known as Suntoucher, our condo is four years old and in Nov 2009 it was first offered as a vacation condo.
My partner and I lived for six months in Mar and we loved the location and condos so much that we inquired if there were any condos for sale. As it turned out, the one next door was for sale and two months later, it was ours. Now we have a home away from home and we would like to share our good fortune with you.
Playa del Carmen Condo Grounds
The Playa del Carmen condo looks out over the fresh water cenote. A cenote is best described as a natural pool set in the ground. There is a small waterfall that tumbles into the cenote which is cleaned daily. This cenote is sunken, surrounded by trees giving it a jungle feel and there are steps down to it and a ladder into to to make swimming in the cenote safe and enjoyable.
Next to the cenote is our pool. It is also cleaned daily and features a massive shallow end so kids have a great deal of room to play whilst parents can relax on the teak furniture next to the pool overlooking the cenote & waterfall.
Mar, the apartments, are located within the guarded gates of Playacar, but we we also have our own guarded gate and 24 hour security. We have a shaded parking space and an elevator.
Path to the Beach
Not only can you swim and relax in the pool and the cenote, but you have access to Playa del Carmen's only naturally shaded beach! The path begins near our parking spot and meanders through a jungle scene. Walk up a tiny hill and cross the smallest stone bridge and look to your left. There you will see ancient Mayan ruins. Follow the path about a minute to the road, cross it and Voila! Beach! You can either relax in the shade or the sun or swim in the turquoise, gentle sea. Our little beach slice of heaven is very private, even at high season this beach is never ram packed!
Playacar Condo Master Suite
The Playacar condo Master Suite looks out over the jungle cenote. We have a divine king size bed, custom recessed closets, a bureau with large mirror and two bedside tables, all hard wood of course. There is A/C in the bedroom and a ceiling fan. The bathroom is feature a stone sink and mirron in one section, the toilet tucked away in another with an ample stone shower.
The Condo's Second Bedroom
On the other side of the condo is the second bedroom that overlooks the pool. Here we have a custom built, recessed closet and a dresser like in the master. There are two single beds called trundle beds, meaning that another single bed slides out from underneath each enabling this room to sleep four people. There is an ensuite bathroom with a huge stone shower, toilet and stone sink and more closet space.
Living Area
We have a huge common area! The dining table seats eight comfortably and is hard wood with padded seats. There are two living rooms in our vacation condo; one is next to the dining room done with supple, suede furniture; the other is recessed, slightly tucked away.
Here you will find a sectional, queen sleeper sofa, TV, DVDs and kid's games. For families this is a great area to keep the kids occupied and for larger parties this area doubles as a third bedroom, although not private.
Our Kitchen and Terrace
We love to cook at our condo in Playa del Carmen. Better said, we love to eat! We have cooked for large parties out of this kitchen and we have stocked it as we have our kitchen at home! There are two windows, a gas hob, oven, side-by-side stainless steel fridge/freezer, a small beverage fridge, dishwasher, blender, toaster over, microwave and much more.
We have a full inventory list should you wish to see it. Next to the kitchen is utility room with a washer and dryer, sink, two coolers for beach picnics and a cold water machine so that you needn't buy loads of bottled water.
Our condo has a lovely terrace that overlooks the cenote and pool. We have floor to ceiling glass doors and windows that span the whole of the terrance giving the apartment wonderful natural lighting (and you'll be surprised at how cool it manages to stay). On the terrace we have provided a teak table, chairs, and two sun loungers and a BBQ.
